National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD)
As part of Toronto Metropolitan University’s continued mission to providing diversity information and professional development, we are an Institutional Member of the National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD) (external link, opens in new window) .
The NCFDD is an independent professional development, training, and mentoring community, including faculty, postdocs, and graduate students. Over 450 universities and colleges participate in this platform.

How to activate your membership:

- Create a username and complete the registration process using your Toronto Metropolitan University email address.
- You will receive an email confirming your account is active and that you can access the NCFDD resources.

Toronto Metropolitan University is not the only Canadian University that has invested in an Institutional Membership, and we feel that these resources developed by academics will benefit anyone in academia. A small sample of our faculty members have had the opportunity to use these resources and all of them provided positive feedback.
- Our office will be monitoring how many memberships are activated, and we will be circulating a survey at the end of the academic year to ascertain whether members find these resources to be useful. Any feedback you may have is greatly appreciated.
- Monday Motivator: (external link, opens in new window) A weekly email message that provides an electronic does of positive energy, good Vibrations, and a weekly productivity tip.
- Core Curriculum: (external link, opens in new window) The NCFDD's Core Curriculum is designed to teach academics the 10 key skills necessary to thrive in the Academy.
- Monthly Webinars: (external link, opens in new window) Every month you can access a core curriculum webinar AND a guest-expert webinar. You can attend the webinars live or listen to the recording at your leisure.
- Peer-Mentor Matches: You are able to request an accountability buddy to help support your implementation of whatever strategy was taught in the monthly core curriculum webinar, to provide you with a peer-mentor and to expand your network.
- Multi-Week Courses: (external link, opens in new window) A series of multi-week courses taught by national experts that cover topics like building a publishing pipeline, applying for external funding, navigating the job market, teaching effectively and efficiently, writing a winning book proposal, and becoming a Department Chair.
- Discussion Forum: Discussion forums are a private place where members connect, share information, peer-mentor, problem-solve, and celebrate each other’s successes.
