Introducing RyersonSafe for health screening process for students

July 12, 2021

To: All students

As we prepare for an increase of on-campus activity in the fall, we are pleased to announce the implementation of RyersonSafe for health screening for all students. This process is also being used for all faculty, staff and visitors.

Planning your visit: Confirm any department-specific protocol for visiting campus

Students, faculty, staff and visitors accessing campus must still comply with department-specific COVID-19 health and safety processes. This may include booking an appointment in advance or completing contact tracing logs. Please confirm with the department you are accessing before visiting campus.

Health screening can be accessed using the RyersonSafe mobile app:

  1. Download the RyersonSafe App if you do not already have it.
  2. Open the RyersonSafe app on your mobile device.
    • If you already have the RyersonSafe app downloaded, you may need to update your settings to view the health screening. To update your settings, tap the Ryerson logo at the top of your screen.
  3. Select “COVID-19 Health Screening”.
    • Students, faculty and staff will be required to enter your Ryerson credentials.
  4. Complete the health screening questionnaire.
  5. Once complete, you will receive a “badge” to show your completion and status of pass or fail.
    • If you receive notification you have failed the screening, please do not enter Ryerson campus, including any outdoor or partially outdoor spaces. See additional information on what to do if you are experiencing symptoms or have been in close-contact with a confirmed or probable COVID-19 case.
    • If you received notification you passed the health screening, please note you will be required to show your badge/proof of completion of health screening prior to accessing certain spaces on campus, such as the Student Learning Centre. Please confirm local department procedures prior to visiting campus.

Completing RyersonSafe health screening via web browser

We encourage all students to download the RyersonSafe app as it is the university’s tool for mass notification that will send alerts in urgent situations that pose an immediate safety or security risk to the community.

If you do not wish to download the app, you can also access the required health screening by visiting the RyersonSafe Health Screening webpage. After you complete the web form, an email confirmation of your screening result will be sent to you from  noreply@apparmor.com. This email can be used as proof of screening completion.

RyersonSafe health screening required as of July 28

Health screening in the RyersonSafe app is now available. For a two week grace period, students are still able to use existing processes. As of July 28 all health screening must be completed using RyersonSafe.

Who will see my answers?

Email confirmations are sent to students upon completion of the screening process. It will not include your responses or details about answers to the screening questions. It will indicate:

  • whether or not you have passed or failed the screening overall,
  • the buildings you indicated you plan to visit,
  • your indicated arrival/departure times.

The information collected is strictly limited to Ryerson staff who may need to know this information as part of their roles supporting Ryerson's COVID-19 response, such as performing contact tracing and possible reporting to Toronto Public Health if required.
