Jasna Schwind, Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing

Jasna Schwind is an associate professor at the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate students. Schwind is a passionate and student-centred teacher who effectively demonstrates and role models the significance of arts-informed narrative education and research. She engages her students in stimulating critical thinking teaching and learning strategies. This includes mindful practices and creative self-expression activities, such as metaphoric-reflection, part of the Narrative Reflective Process she innovated. Through these creative approaches and using scholarly works, Schwind encourages her students to explore the humanness-of-care within their own professional roles, thereby bringing together theory, research and practice. She is often heard saying, “I strive to practice what I teach.” Indeed, she does demonstrate through her instruction and professional engagement with her students, the value of knowledge, compassion, respect for different perspectives and inclusiveness for all.
