Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Committee

The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee is expected to take a leadership role in influencing a culture of respect, fairness and inclusivity amongst the staff, instructors and students at the School of Graphic Communications Management (GCM).

GCM Student Volunteer Committee Posting

Positions Available

There are TWO (2) volunteer committee positions available: 

  1. First or second Year GCM Student
  2. Third or fourth Year GCM Student 

Both positions will be voted upon by the GCM Student Body. 

Qualifications

There is no experience necessary. We welcome all GCM students to apply. The only qualification is that you must be a GCM student. 

Term Length

A member’s term expires at the end of each academic year. Committee members may renew  their terms. 

Responsibilities

The Committee is responsible for the following: 

  1. Advising the School Council and the Chair on matters related to equity, diversity and inclusion. 
  2. Identifying and advocating for the removal of materials and content that perpetuate stereotypes and discriminatory practices. 
  3. Highlighting opportunities for improving the GCM curriculum to facilitate more inclusive content and resources. 
  4. Recommending opportunities to educate and start conversations within the greater GCM community on issues related to equity, diversity and inclusion. 
  5. Collaborating with the Creative School’s EDI Working Group on initiatives that address mutual concerns. 
  6. Reviewing on an annual basis the Committee’s terms of reference and work plan.
  7. Providing opportunities for students, staff and faculty to safely and confidentially voice concerns  and suggestions in regards to EDI within the GCM community. The committee will use  this information to inform its work, guide decisions and create positive change

Voting & Election

  • Applicant identities will be anonymized for the voting process and both positions will be voted upon by the GCM Student Body. 
  • Voting will take place virtually from Nov 9th - Nov 11th at 11:59pm.
  • The two election winners will be notified via email on Nov 12th.
