Date
March 19, 2024
Time
10:00 AM EDT - 12:00 PM EDT
Location
DCC 707/709
Open To
TA/GAs

This workshop is designed to provide an introduction to anti-racist teaching strategies that are grounded in the work of activists and scholars. It is intended to be a starting point and is by no means exhaustive. Participants will start by reviewing key terms and definitions related to anti-racist teaching, and will identify some of the systems and structures in higher education that work to actively perpetuate racism, in particular, anti-Black racism and anti-Indigenous racism. Additionally, participants will reflect on how their social location and choices shape their role in addressing issues of racism in higher education, and will also develop strategies for adopting and incorporating an anti-racist pedagogy into their personal teaching practice.

Note: This session counts as one workshop towards the workshop component of GTDP Level 1.
