Muhammad Jaseemuddin  received B.E. from N.E.D. University of Engg. & Tech., Karachi, Pakistan, in 1989, M. S. from The University of Texas at Arlington in 1991, and Ph.D. from The University of Toronto in 1997. He worked as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Network Architecture Lab at The University of Toronto on Network Management using Virtual Network. He worked in Advanced IP group and Wireless Technology Lab (WTL) at Nortel Networks from 1998 to 2001. He worked on Wireless Service Delivery Platform and UMTS VHE prototype for mobile service delivery. He contributed to the development and implementation of Open IP suite of IP protocols. In WTL, he worked on QoS, Routing and Handover issues in mobile wireless IP access network. He has been in the faculty of Ryerson University since 2002, where he is currently a Professor in the department of electrical, computer and biomedical engineering. His research interests include IP mobility, IP traffic engineering, routing protocols, multi-hop mobile wireless networks (ad hoc, mesh, and sensor), vertical system integration, MAC and routing for multi-hop wireless networks with smart beamforming antennas, routing and relay selection in multi-hop cooperative communication networks, and multicast routing, caching, and P2P overlay networks for multimedia delivery and video streaming in mobile wireless ad hoc networks.

He is leading Mobile Wireless Internet group in Wireless Networking and Communication Research (WINCORE) Lab at Ryerson University. His team has been working in the evolution of wireless access networks to all-IP mobile wireless networks for multimedia services and multi-hop wireless networks including mesh and sensor networks. In particular the work is focused on Routing, Mobility, Quality of Service (QoS), and Heterogeneity issues. In mobility they worked in developing routing-based mobility solution, inter-technology handover, and hand-over framework for micro-mobility. Mobility adds a level complexity in dealing with QoS in the wireless access network. His team has been developing power and interference-aware Routing in cooperative multi-hop wireless networks and routing in heterogeneous multi-hop wireless networks including nodes equipped with smart beamforming and omni-directional antennas. He is also interested in delivering multimedia content to mobile users. His team has developed a P2P Reliable Ad Hoc Overlay Network (RAON) with cooperative caching support for multimedia application delivery and video streaming in mobile wireless ad hoc networks. His interests in Internet Routing leads to his work on developing Routing Failure Analysis and Recovery tool.
