Overview

Dr. Hossein Zolfagharinia is an award-wining Associate Professor of Operations Management in the Global Management Studies department at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University. He received his Undergraduate and Master's Degrees in Industrial Engineering. Afterwards, he earned his Ph.D. in Operations and Supply Chain Management from the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. In addition to his academic background, Dr. Zolfagharinia has  several years of professional work experience as a business methods analyst. Furthermore, he gained experience in the area of Logistics and Supply Chain Management through managing projects in industries such as trucking transportation (e.g., Cargo County Group), third party logistics (e.g., Logikor Inc.), maritime transportation (Global Spatial Technology Solutions Inc.), and healthcare (Intelligence Inc.).

Dr. Zolfagharinia is the co-editor of a book, and the author of a book chapter and over 15 top-tier refereed articles in A and A* rated journals, based on the ABDC list. These journals include: European Journal of Operational Research, Transportation Research: Parts B, D, & E, Omega- The International Journal of Management Science, International Journal of Production Economics, Computers & Industrial Engineering, and Computers & Operations Research. Dr. Zolfagharinia frequently presents his work at scholarly/professional conferences at both the national and international levels such as: Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC) Annual Conference, Annual meeting of Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS), Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) Annual Meeting, and Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS) Conference.

Dr. Zolfagharinia is the recipient of the Dean's Scholarly, Research, and Creative Activity Award in 2017, the Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM) Research Recognition Awards in 2018 & 2020, the Best Paper Award of the Production and Operations Management Division at the 2019 Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC), and several TRSM Outstanding Research Recognition Funding Awards. He has received over $500,000 in internal and external research grants from a variety of funding agencies, including: NSERC Discovery Grant, SSHRC Insight Development Grant, NSERC Engage Grant, Federal Economic Development Agency Grant for Southern Ontario, and Ontario Centres of Excellence Grant.
