#HTMRyerson virtually celebrated award recipients
The Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management was pleased to host the annual 2020 Awards Night Celebration on November 12th! HTM Faculty, Staff, students, alumni, donors, and industry associates gathered for a virtual event hosted on Zoom.
Despite barriers from COVID-19, the program offered a 30-minute presentation with host Director Frédéric Dimanche and speakers Philip Mondor, alumnus Geoffrey Handelman, and Dr. Norman Shaw. The achievements of students and alumni were celebrated by over 100 attendees!
Mohamed Lachemi, President and Vice-Chancellor of Ryerson University, and Daphne Taras, Dean of Ted Rogers School of Management, sent in their congratulatory messages to award winners.
HTM alumnus, and Ryerson's Gold Medal Award recipient Geoffrey Handelman ('20) gave the thank you address on behalf of award recipients to our generous donors by introducing a video of our students' "thank you" messages. Dr. Norman Shaw presented the awards received by HTM Faculty and gave closing remarks at the celebration.
Congratulations to our hardworking award winners! We can't wait to see what our future hospitality and tourism leaders achieve.
Philip Mondor - Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Industry Award 2020 Recipient
Thank you to Philip Mondor, President and CEO of Tourism HR Canada, for speaking at the event. Mondor is the recipient of the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Industry Award 2020.
The award is presented in recognition of significant support for the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Ryerson University. We would like to recognize Philip Mondor as an industry leader, promoting the sector to help build a world-leading tourism workforce through employment data based on rigorous research, in addition to his contributions to the School as a member of our Advisory Council, and as a guest speaker in classes and student-run conferences.

Bill Pallett Memorial Award
The Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management is proud to honour Bill Pallett, friend, colleague, and mentor of the program through the first distribution of the Bill Pallett Memorial Award.
Bill was an alumnus of Ryerson University. Upon graduation, he launched his career through different roles in the industry, eventually leading him to become the Senior Vice President at Delta Hotels for 25 years. He was a big supporter of our School and left an impactful legacy in the industry.
We were very fortunate to have Bill's partner Charlie Nucifora, attend the Awards Celebration to see HTM Staff and Faculty, and Bill Pallett Memorial Award recipient, Linh Nguyen.
Bill's accomplishments, impact on HTM Ryerson, and the hospitality and tourism industry will be remembered by everyone. His legacy continues to live on with this memorial award.
