Please review the process below to formally request to host a visiting international scholar.

  1. The sponsoring faculty member should gather the required information and proceed with an application (see checklist on main page (opens in new window) )
  2. Complete the “ (google form) Request to Host a Visiting Scholar/Professor/Student (external link, opens in new window) ” form.
  3. Once the application has been completed, the applicant should collect the signature of their Chair/Director (not required for Centre/Institute Directors) and submit the signed form to trsm.src@torontomu.ca for approval and signature by the Associate Dean (Research).
  4. Once approved, HR will initiate a separate process for international visitors related to work permit, visa, and health insurance.
  5. HR, in conjunction with the office of the Associate Dean (Research) will provide a formal letter of invitation, based upon the approval of the host submission form.
  6. The office of the Associate Dean (Research) will communicate with those administrators responsible for providing resources to the visiting scholar. In particular, requests for office space, computer and phone resources, and library privileges should be made at least one semester prior to the commencement of the visit.
  7. Firm dates for the visit should be confirmed at least a month prior to the visit.
  8. When the visiting scholar arrives, the sponsoring faculty member should notify the Associate Dean (Research) and should ensure that appropriate announcements have been made.
