Reposition a course within a curriculum

Repositioning a course can mean:

1. Moving a course from one year/semester to another (repositioning in time).

2. Moving a course from one requirement (i.e., table or grouping) to another (repositioning conceptually).

Before repositioning a course, consider consulting Curriculum by Course reports
These reports show the positioning of core courses in full-time degree programs for the current calendar year, sorted by Academic Organization (Teaching Department).

1. Go to the  (google form) Calendar Change Hub (external link, opens in new window) .

  • On the first page, choose "Curriculum-Level Change" and enter the course code.
  • Choose whether the course is being added to a Degree Program or Minor/Specialization.
    • Use one form for each program, minor, or specialization that you are adding the course to.
  • Choose the program, minor, or specialization from the dropdown list.

2. Choose “Reposition,” and then write in further details describing the change.

  • E.g.,  “Move from 6th semester required to 5th semester required”; “Move from Core Elective Table I to Core Elective Table II.”

3. Once the Curriculum-Level Change is submitted, you will get a link to a Google Doc in your email.

  •  (google doc) Use the Google Approvals function on this document (external link, opens in new window)  to get endorsements on your change from the necessary stakeholders.
  • Only Curriculum-Level Changes that have received endorsements will be reflected in the Calendar.
    • Endorsements indicate that teaching department and program department agree to the change and their Dean(s) support it.
    • Endorsements also allow Undergraduate Publications to know that the change has gone through the proper channels. This eliminates ambiguity and allows us to input calendar changes efficiently.

4. Submit revised calendar copy.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no way to specify multiple programs when filling out the Calendar Change Hub.

This is done to ensure that each change is evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the stakeholders involved. This reduces the likelihood that oversights will occur.
