It’s Time for an IP Strategy

In collaboration with Bereskin & Parr LLP (external link) , Zone Learning at Ryerson University is hosting the Workshop: “It’s Time for an IP Strategy” on Tuesday October 5th 10-11am EST. The Workshop will help you answer the important question “what is your IP Strategy?” by covering key aspects including technology and brand protection, academic collaborations, and freedom-to-operate risk management. This session will provide useful background on IP for a second session Leveraging Your IP Strategy on Tuesday Nov 9th 10-11am EST.

Isi Caulder (external link)  and Ahmed Elmallah (external link)  will walk participants through the process of developing a practical customized IP strategy which can be implemented and updated for achieving business goals through various phases of the business life cycle. If you are developing, or planning to develop innovative products or services, you are encouraged to attend the session and then to book a complementary consultation (external link, opens in new window)  to further develop your IP Strategy.

About the speakers

Isi Caulder
B.A.Sc. (Eng. Sci.), M.A.Sc. (Elec. Eng.), J.D.

Isi Caulder (external link)  is a partner with Bereskin & Parr LLP and co-leader of the firm’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) practice group and leader of the Cleantech practice group. She helps high technology clients secure and license patent rights for a wide variety of electrical, computer and mechanical related inventions and advises on strategic intellectual property portfolio development and management. She is a frequent speaker and supporter of the Toronto technology community, mentoring student start up teams at The UofT Entrepreneurship Hatchery, various Ryerson Zones, AGE-WELL and OBIO. Isi serves on the Leadership Team for the newly launched ChIPS Toronto Chapter (external link) , the first in Canada and plans and coordinates legal educational programs at the Ontario Bar Association (OBA), Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), and the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).

Ahmed Elmallah
B.Sc. (Elec. Eng.), J.D.

Ahmed Elmallah (external link)  is an associate with Bereskin & Parr LLP and a member of the Electrical & Computer Technology practice group. Ahmed’s practice focuses on all aspects of patent prosecution and opinion work. Ahmed assists clients in securing patent protection for their inventions in Canada, the United States and internationally. He has experience in electrical and mechanical patent prosecution, copyright and industrial designs.
