Undeclared Arts
DepartmentMajor – Philosophy

I chose Undeclared Arts because it gave me the chance to sample various social science and humanities courses, while also giving me time to adjust to the atmosphere of a post-secondary institution. Coming straight from secondary school into university is usually perceived as a daunting experience, but my time at Ryerson has been far from that. The class sizes in the Faculty of Arts' programs are, on average, manageable and allow for interactions and discussions between students and professors, which enhances your education. One of the things I have enjoyed about Undeclared Arts is being able to interact with students who have already declared a major within the Faculty of Arts.

Through these interactions, you are able to gain insights from multiple perspectives. This helps you decide which program to declare, and it also allows you the opportunity to get to know other students. Undeclared Arts has helped me decide to pursue Philosophy as my major. I recommend Undeclared Arts to anybody who isn't too sure as to which major they would like to pursue, but are open to trying new things and programs. You may find that you are really interested in a program that you originally thought you wouldn't like.
