Reference

The reference component is used to display content from an activated component within another page. A reference component can only reference another component, not a page.

  • Found in Side Panel> Components > Reference
  • Required content: Locate file containing the component to reference
  • Optional fields: None
  • Custom Colours Applicable:  No

Tip: Path in the reference component is the TITLE and not name.

How to use

1. Open page and select the side panel icon

2. Under Components, locate the Reference component

3. Drag the Reference component onto page

4. To edit component, double-click, or select component and select the wrench icon

5. Select on the folder/search icon (See image to the right) to navigate to the page with the component you want to display

Navigate to the page and locate the content component

 It's important to know the specific content component you want to reference/include. This will help you identify the correct component as you navigate the path (see the illustration below). If a component is contained in another component such as a columns component, you can reference the columns, or the content in one of the columns.

6. Select the checkmark to view the referenced content in the page.

7. Publish page

If a page on your site references content in another site, only the authors of that site can edit or publish the content.

If the source component on the other site is deleted, moved or unpublished, the referenced content will no longer be displayed on your page; however, this will not result in any visible error on your page.
