First Nations

Through a groundbreaking partnership between First Nations Technical Institute (FNTI) and Ryerson University, First Nations students are able to earn a Level 1, opens in new window Certificate, a Level 2, opens in new window Certificate, and a Bachelor of Arts (honours) in Public Administration and Governance, opens in new window. Since 1999, courses have been delivered in First Nations communities across Ontario, at the FNTI campus in Tyendinaga, and at Ryerson University.

The Department of Politics and Public Administration at Ryerson was recognised for its efforts to provide education to Ontario First Nations when it won a PDF file2010 IPAC/Deloitte Public Sector Leadership Award, opens in new window, which was presented at the 05 April 2011 meeting of the Ryerson Senate.

Ryerson Politics FNTI

This program is an important initiative that provides learning and academic accreditation to First Nations Administrators. It will assist First Nations government administrators (and administrators of other Indigenous organizations) to manage effectively and to gain control over their economic future.
