April 26, 2018
TRSM DECA Students who won at an international DECA competition in Washington

A team of 17 TRSM students took the U.S. capital by storm, bringing home record-breaking results from the DECA Collegiate International Career Development Conference (ICDC).

DECA is an international student network focused on instilling professionalism in young people and preparing them for the challenges of business. DECA Ryerson is an award-winning chapter of TRSM students who strive to reach the height of academic, social and professional success.

At the event, which took place in Washington, D.C. from April 10 to 15, 2018, DECA Ryerson won 24 medals in the preliminary and final round of competition, six plaques for students who placed top three in the final round and a Chapter Award for first place in the Hospitality and Tourism cluster, receiving the highest cumulative scores in this category against other participating schools.

After several months of training and qualifying for ICDC by placing top three in their respective business case categories at DECA U Ontario’s Provincials in January 2018, our TRSM students were thrilled to have the opportunity to represent Ryerson University at the International event. The team not only participated in the highly competitive Case Competition against over 1,500 students from around the world, but it also took part in valuable workshops, networking and professional development activities.
