Food for Thought - TMU Eats offers free meal initiative during the April 2024 Exam Period

Free Food Initiative - meals for students during the April 2024 Exam Period 

To help address food security in our community, the Student Societies, Office of the Vice Provost, Students (external link) , and TMU Eats have partnered to offer undergraduate and graduate students a free, hot meal and healthy snack program during the 2024 Winter Exam period. We want to recognize the following student societies for supporting this initiative:

What’s available

Snack program

Healthy, energizing snacks that can be grabbed to-go and eaten in between exams or study sessions. Offer only available daily while supplies last.

Dates: Monday, April 15 through to Friday, April 26, excluding weekends.
Time: 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m., while quantities last. Times may vary slightly due to the exam schedule.
Location: Mattamy Athletic Centre (ground floor, main entrance) and Ted Rogers School of Management (TRS1 7th Floor)
Offerings: Snacks served buffet-style; 1 snack item per student 

  • Fresh fruit
  • Energy bar (gluten-free, vegan, kosher, nut-free)
  • Muffin (gluten-free, vegan, halal, kosher)

Hot meal program 

Hot meals made in-house by the TMU Eats team at the Hub Café. Meal options rotate daily. Offer only available daily while supplies last.

Dates:
Monday, April 15 through to Thursday, April 25, excluding weekends. Closed for all service on Friday, April 26.
Time: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., while quantities last
Location: Hub Café, JOR 1st Floor
Offerings:

  • Choice of 1 meat entrée (halal) with 2 sides (vegan) or 1 plant-based entrée (vegan) with 2 sides (vegan)*
  • A brewed coffee, tea, cold beverage, and 1 rotating snack food item

*Certified kosher packaged sandwiches and pastries available upon request. Made without gluten entree alternatives are also available upon request.

What you need to access offerings 

Students will need to present a valid OneCard at the specified locations in order to access the program. You must also be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at TMU.

Information for staff and faculty 

TMU faculty and staff may access the all-inclusive meal option at the Hub Cafe for $8.50 (tax inclusive), while quantities last.  The snack programs offered at TRS and MAC locations are only available to students.

Please note that the Hub Café's regular offerings will not be available during this time.

TMU Eats is donating all proceeds from the staff and faculty sales towards funding future  food security programs.
