Fundamentals Midwifery Care I

This course offers weekly online tutorials delivered synchronously with clinical placement(s) to develop foundational knowledge and skills for midwives as primary care providers. The placement focuses on assessment, decision-making, care planning, and implementation in prenatal, postnatal, and newborn care, including sexual and reproductive health. The placement provides introductory experience in intrapartum care. Tutorials explore themes of reflective practice, lifelong learning, communication, advocacy, health equity, cultural humility, ethics, and quality and safety in health care. Clinical placements are in midwifery practice settings and may include interprofessional placements focused on prenatal and postnatal care. This course is graded on a pass fail basis.
