COVID-19 Update for the winter 2022 term

Ryerson University campus in winter

December 16, 2021

Dear Students,

As you know, the law school has been enthusiastically planning for a full return to in-person learning on campus this January.

However, in light of the recent guidance issued by the Ontario Government due to the rapid rise of the Omicron variant, the university has made the decision to run ALL CLASSES virtually until January 30, 2022 in order to prioritize the safety of our community.

While we are disappointed that our return to campus has been delayed, we must remain flexible in our ability to pivot and adapt to an evolving pandemic in order to effectively protect our law school community.

How we respond individually and collectively in the days ahead will invariably determine the impact of the Omicron variant and the latest wave of the pandemic. With the province ramping up its COVID-19 vaccine booster program starting Monday (external link) , we strongly encourage you to sign up for your booster as soon as possible.

Please know that your health and safety remains our highest priority. We will monitor the situation closely over the holiday break and will keep you informed as we learn more.

In the meantime, please see the President’s Message (external link)  issued earlier today for additional details. We will be updating the FAQs section of our law school website to reflect these and future changes. The university’s COVID-19 website also continues to be a useful resource.

Thank you for your ongoing flexibility and cooperation as we navigate through this challenging time.

Sincerely,

Donna E. Young
