Lincoln Alexander School of Law's Katie Hammond wins SSHRC Insights Grant

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) recently awarded an Insight Grant to "Ova Obscura: Egg Donors in Canada", a project that aims to run a Canada-wide study on the experiences of Canadian egg donors and the role of law and policy in those experiences.

Alana Cattapan, a professor of political science from the University of Waterloo, served as the primary grant applicant while University of Ottawa's Vanessa Gruben and the Lincoln Alexander School of Law's Katie Hammond - both professors of law - were co-applicants for this award.

According to the SSHRC, "Insight Grants support research proposed by scholars and judged worthy of funding by their peers and/or other experts." Research studies can be undertaken by an individual researcher or a team of researchers working in collaboration.
