Jack Cockwell

Jack Cockwell was re-appointed to the Ryerson Board of Governors in November 2016. He previously served on the Board from 1995 to 2001 and from 2005 to 2015. In June 2001 he received a Doctor of Laws, (honoris causa) from York University and in June 2004 he was awarded a Doctor of Commerce, (honoris causa) from Ryerson University.  In 2009 he was inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame, and in 2016 became a member of the Order of Canada. Mr. Cockwell is a director and former President and CEO of Brookfield Asset Management Inc. and serves in a voluntary capacity on a number of community organization boards including as a Heritage Governor at the Royal Ontario Museum, Executive Chairman of Brookfield Partners Foundation, a Governor of Trails Youth Initiatives and the Honorary Campaign Chair for the Trans Canada Trail. He has also chaired the Building Fundraising Committee for the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education and Ryerson's Real Estate Advisory Committee.
